    What we check before installing

A home charger is a big, continuous load – often 7kW for hours at a time. Before we quote, we check your installation can handle it safely:

    • Your consumer unit has space and suitable protection for a new circuit
    • Your main fuse and supply can take the extra load
    • Your earthing arrangement – some supplies need extra protection for outdoor charging
    • The best cable route and charger position for your driveway
    • Wi-Fi signal where the charger will go, for smart charging

A 2ES EV charger installation in North London.

    What's included

    • A dedicated circuit from your consumer unit
    • Charger mounted, connected and set up on your phone app
    • RCD protection to the current wiring regulations
    • Full testing and an Electrical Installation Certificate
    • Building Control notification where required
    • DNO (network operator) notification handled for you
    • Neat cable runs and a full tidy-up

    The paperwork, handled

Home charge points must be registered with your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) – across London that’s UK Power Networks. For a typical 7kW home charger this is usually a simple ‘connect and notify’, and we handle it for you.

A new circuit is also notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. As a NICEIC-registered contractor we self-certify the work and notify Building Control. Chargers sold in Great Britain also have to meet the smart charge point regulations – we make sure yours is set up correctly.

    How it works

    1. Quick survey. Photos of your fuse board, meter and parking area are often enough for us to quote.
    2. Fixed price. We confirm the price and recommend a suitable smart charger.
    3. Install, test, certify. Most installs are completed in a single visit – tested, certified and set up on your app.

    FAQs

    EV Charger FAQs

How long does an EV charger installation take?

Most home installations are completed in a single visit, once we've confirmed your supply is suitable.

Do I need to upgrade my fuse box first?

Sometimes. Older boards may not have space or suitable protection for a charger circuit. We check first and tell you before you commit.

What size charger should I get?

Most homes have a single-phase supply, which makes 7kW the usual maximum for a home charger. We confirm what your supply can support.

    Do you notify the DNO?

Yes. We handle the network operator notification for you, plus the Building Control notification where it's required.

Can you fit a charger I've already bought?

Ask us – we'll check it's suitable and meets the smart charge point regulations.

    Do I need off-street parking?

Usually, yes. Running a charging cable across a public pavement generally isn't allowed without your council's permission.
